Trading license for commercial bank is not easy to apply. Other than the vital part which is a huge sum of capital, there is still the need to go through departments and limitations. There are also unavoidable complicated procedures to go through. When the application for trading license is successful, there are a certain numbers of restrictions and limitations on the quota. So it is apparent that commercial banking is not an easy business in any country. But as one of the members of China-ASEAN Economic development zone, the prospect of the economy in Cambodia is actually looking good. The government is putting a lot of attention on promoting many policies beneficiating to the economy. Commercial banks in Cambodia will prosper! According to the statistics in 2013, there are 30 commercial banks, 7 professional banks, 29 microfinance institutions and 2 foreign banks as agents in Cambodia.
The Cambodian government also encouraged foreign enterprises to invest in the banks locally. This is the right time for commercial banks to venture into Cambodia and become one of the factors for the economic prosperity there. As long as having the sufficient capital, one can apply for the commercial bank trading license with the government. With such good prospect for the commercial banking in Cambodia, lets be the chief in the financial industry in this country! One thing worthy of mention is the Cambodian government does not limit the number of branches that the commercial banks needed to set up. This is one priviledge that cannot be found in other countries.
