On 29 September 2026, the Chengdu–Chongqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Application Launch Event was held at Tianfu Traditional Chinese Medicine City in the Pengzhou Economic Development Zone, Sichuan, China. Dato’ Prof. Dr. Albert Tan, President of APC, attended by invitation, joining representatives from government departments, industry associations, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare institutions, universities and research organisations to explore innovation, regional collaboration and international opportunities in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry.
During the high-level roundtable discussion, Dato’ Prof. Dr. Albert Tan joined fellow industry speakers to discuss policy pathways and standards alignment for TCM’s overseas expansion, emerging models for cross-border healthcare and wellness services, and international market opportunities for authentic regional medicinal materials and TCM products. The discussion also explored how Chengdu and Chongqing could jointly develop practical applications to support the industry’s international growth.
Bringing TCM to overseas markets requires a clear understanding of product standards, market access requirements, distribution channels and local consumer needs. The roundtable examined how businesses could translate their industry strengths into products and services suited to international markets, supported by effective brand communication and local partnerships.
For APC, the event provided an opportunity to deepen engagement with the Chengdu–Chongqing TCM industry and better understand enterprises’ expansion needs. These exchanges helped identify potential areas of cooperation between Chinese businesses and ASEAN partners, particularly in TCM products, healthcare and wellness services.
Moving forward, APC will build on these connections through its international business exchange platform, supporting dialogue and business matching in brand promotion, market development and health services. The aim is to help enterprises establish suitable partnerships and turn shared interests into practical cooperation.
